Pick Me! is most definitely feeling the love at the moment. I’ve had some really varied and interesting graphic design and illustration enquires this month, including 7 logo design enquiries in the space of 72 hours – which I think is a bit of a record!
Pick Me! Design was approached by the Redhill Business Guild in Surrey to design a logo for the newly established association. They required a graphic designer to create some branding that would represent the town and it’s local businesses.
I had the pleasure of meeting gallery owner Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison at his opening night of ‘We are Croydon’, currently being held at Rise Gallery, Croydon. I loved Kevin’s enthusiasm for both the artists and Croydon, and rightly so!
These last few years I have watched my friend and fellow graphic designer Nick Daley flourish with his popular venture Bareface. Although a successful art director and designer, Nick felt that he wanted to revisit his childhood love of art and drawing.
How time has flown! It dawned on me that it has been just over a year since Pick Me! Design relocated to Reigate in Surrey, from Forest Hill, South East London. And what a year it’s been!
Yesterday I was fortunate enough to spend a sunny afternoon in Bexhill-on-Sea at the awe-inspiring De La Warr Pavilion. This modernist architectural gem, built in 1935, won my heart about ten years ago on a tour of the East Sussex coast.
Most of us are aware print and illustration are having quite a resurgence, so it’s no coincidence that illustrators such as Mac Conner are finally getting the credit they deserve, and if you’re a fan of vintage advertising then this show is not to be missed!
