First year in Surrey for Pick Me! Design

 |

How time has flown! It dawned on me that it has been just over a year since Pick Me! Design relocated to Reigate in Surrey, from Forest Hill, South East London. And what a year it’s been!

The new chapter for my business started in December 2014, soon after I’d moved to Reigate, when I began to introduce myself to local businesses and talk to them about my graphic design services. Fortunately the Reigate locals were welcoming and I managed to secure two jobs with local Reigate estate agents Crow Watkin, and Robinsons with Martin-Brown.

A chance meeting in January with Claire Naveira of Claire Elizabeth Antiques, based just off Lesbourne Road in Reigate, ended in a commission to create a brand new logo as well as a responsive website promoting her beautiful new shop.

In spring I was approached by Jane Buyers who owns Faceworks-Aesthetics in Buckland, Surrey. Jane required a brochure to illustrate the range of beauty treatments and services she offered, plus a new business card.

Soon after that I was contacted by Reigate events management specialists Mindset Communications, who had a very exciting proposition to illustrate a variety of graphics for use in a video animation promoting their leadership workshop programme. A highlight was having to work out how best to illustrate a caveman and a stone wheel!

LRS Down Renovations got in touch with Pick Me! Design after ‘picking up’ my business card whilst out and about in Reigate – proving that print ain’t dead yet! The owner needed a graphic designer to revamp his logo and design a new business card.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Nick of Stratosphonic, a composer and creative sound designer based in Redhill, and Lauren Best, a nail technician working in Reigate, Surrey. Both clients were open to a fresh and contemporary design for their new brand identities.

Christmas was soon upon us, but work didn’t stop – local holistic therapist Imogen opened a new clinic on South Road in Reigate, so required a new logo for her shop signage, business cards, flyers and website.

I ended the year with a great project for Josh Riordan, a producer and production manager, based in Reigate and Brighton. He needed a fully responsive website design and build, plus branding to use on the new website.

Looking back shows how varied my projects have been, from logos and branding, adverts, business cards, brochures, flyers, corporate stationary, food packaging, digital greetings cards (Ecards), responsive websites through to caveman illustrations and graphics! If this year’s anything to go by, I think I have a very exciting year ahead! Here’s to a productive and prosperous 2016, and good luck to all the small businesses I’ve worked with so far!
